This year, states will be conducting the Medicaid redetermination process for the first time since March 2020. During COVID-19, you kept your Medicaid coverage with automatic renewals which was known as continuous Medicaid coverage. Now, due to new federal law, states are returning to normal renewal processes beginning in 2023. During the process individuals on Medicaid will be reassessed by their states and will have to provide evidence that they still qualify for Medicaid.
This could affect many enrollees, if you no longer qualify for Medicaid because of the redeterminations, you may find affordable coverage through a subsidized ACA Marketplace plan, through an employer-sponsored plan or through Medicare.
